Youth Visions
Short Film Competition
The Youth Visions Short Film Competition is a long-standing community program offering a unique opportunity for young filmmaking enthusiasts in Lane County to develop their creative and technical skills in film production, and get the appreciation and recognition they deserve at a final showcase event.
Joining our Competition Lineup
The Youth Visions Short Film Competition was started in 2003 by Steve Poizat-Newcomb. In 2006, YouthVisions was incorporated into DIVA (the Downtown Initiative for the Visual Arts), which has now been dissolved.
The Eugene Film Society is proud to announce that Youth Visions will soon join our lineup of filmmaking competitions!
Motivating Students
Youth Visions solicits short works (5 minutes or less) from Lane County youth between the ages of 13 and 19. The event helps motivate many students already enrolled in media arts classes throughout Lane school districts, as well as offering young people a chance to publicly screen their work in a setting that reinforces the value of their effort and creativity in film production.
Final Screening
The final screening event brings youth peers and families together for a broad social event, and the winning films have also been featured at other venues, such as the Mayor’s Teen Art Exhibit at the Maude Kerns Gallery and Eugene Celebration events. Jury and Audience Awards are given to the highest-scoring films at the screening event.
